Dynamic Indicators of Basic Early Literacy Skills (DIBELS®)

DIBELS® are a set of brief assessments that measure the “vital signs” of early literacy and reading development. DIBELS® are designed to be used on an ongoing basis to chart students’ early literacy and reading progress—one step at a time—from kindergarten through 6th grade. Students who are not progressing from one step to the next as expected are identified early, and support is provided as needed to keep students on the path to reading and school success.

Teachers will:
• learn to administer and score DIBELS®
• thoroughly understand and best answer questions about the what, how, and why of DIBELS®
• use DIBELS® data to make educational decisions
for individual students

Participants should bring a stop watch and clipboard.
