Dr. Torgesen combines research and practical experience with students to
describe the kind of instruction, assessments, and school/classroom organization needed to prevent early reading problems of students grades K-3. He will share examples of appropriate goals and strategies for classroom and intervention instruction.
Joe Torgesen is the Russell and Eugenia Morcom Chair of Psychology and Education at Florida State University; Director Emeritus of the Florida Center for Reading Research; and Director of Reading for the National Center on Instruction K-12 in Reading, Math, and Science, which is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Education. For the last six years, he has been working to assist states, districts, and schools implementing high quality literacy instruction for all students.
