Speech-Language Pathologist
The Stern Center for Language and Learning is an education-focused nonprofit dedicated to expanding the power of learning. We are seeking a Speech Language Pathologist with expertise in Social Thinking to provide small group and individualized instruction for people with communication and/or social understanding challenges. Our ideal candidate will have exceptional communication skills, in-depth understanding of research-based interventions, and experience in developing individualized treatment plans. Special Educator
The Stern Center for Language and Learning is an education-focused nonprofit dedicated to expanding the power of learning. We are currently looking to hire a Special Educator to provide 1:1, intervention-based instruction in-person in Williston, Vermont. This is a full-time, in-person position in Chittenden County, VT. The hiring range for this position is $54,000 – $57,000 annually. The Stern Center for Language and Learning is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
Job Requirements:
- Candidates must hold a valid Vermont Special Educator license and have experience delivering targeted instruction in reading, writing, and/or math using a multisensory approach. This role focuses on individualized intervention and requires strong collaboration and communication skills.
- Ideal candidates will have a BA/BS in education, 2+ years’ experience in Special Education, enthusiasm for one-to-one instruction, and knowledge of assessment and interpretation.
- Experience with Orton-Gillingham, or similar qualifications preferred.

OG Certified Literacy Instructor
The Stern Center in Williston is seeking a full time, in-person Orton-Gillingham Certified instructor to join our highly experienced and collaborative team of teachers. If you’re a qualified educator with training and experience in structured literacy instruction, this rewarding role allows focus and impact, teaching one-on-one to make a positive difference every day.
Candidates should be certified in Orton-Gillingham or have had training in Orton-Gillingham and/or Wilson. Our ideal candidate will also have exceptional communication and organizational skills, an understanding of research-based interventions, and experience in developing individualized learning plans.
Specific duties include:
- Administer and interpret pre- and post-instructional assessments
- Create specific academic goals and objectives for each student
- Communicate with parents, schools, teachers, and special educators
- Strong progress monitoring and reporting skills
The starting salary range for this position is $54,000 to $57,000 annually.

Psychologist for Evaluation
The Stern Center for Language and Learning is seeking an experienced clinical or school psychologist to join our collaborative and highly experienced team of evaluators. Our evaluation team administers and interprets psychoeducational and/or developmental tests for children and adults to identify specific learning disabilities, attention deficit (ADHD), autism, intellectual giftedness, and learning differences. We are seeking an individual with a strong interest in language and reading. The position will provide the qualified applicant with an opportunity to work with a team/organization that has a specialized expertise in reading disorders.
The Stern Center has earned a reputation for excellence in our community and nationwide for the quality and depth of our assessments. Our team is devoted to developing learning profiles and making recommendations that are research-based, easy to understand, and positive in their outlook. Because the Stern Center is a non-profit organization, employees are eligible to apply for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program.
Required Qualifications: Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
•Expertise in performing cognitive and educational evaluations, scoring, and interpreting results, and developing individualized recommendations to support performance in schools, in the home, and in the workplace
•Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and school teams
•Strong writing skills
•Willingness to work as part of a team
Preferred Qualifications:
•Strong clinical skills in differential diagnosis and research-based treatment of language/learning abilities and disabilities
•Experience in documenting the need for accommodations in those seeking post-secondary and graduate level training
•Expertise in the diagnosis of autism and behavioral disorders
•Experience in the design of behavioral support plans
