Providing a Foundation for Engaged Learning, Positive Relationships, and Personal Growth

As more students struggle with depression, trauma, anxiety, and dysregulation, the need for effective social-emotional learning (SEL) programs is greater than ever. We partner with schools to launch social learning programs that teach students how to approach school and life with more joy, perseverance, and purpose. SEL education gives students the skills to manage their emotions, gain perspective, approach challenging tasks, develop friendships, work with others, improve self-regulation, make responsible decisions, and communicate more effectively.

We consult with schools and districts to support specific students and provide SEL training for teachers through courses, workshops, and job-embedded coaching. Talk with our Social Learning and Communication team about how we can support your SEL vision as a school leader.

SEL Consulting

Are you looking to bring social-emotional learning to your district or school or expand an existing program? Our social learning experts and speech-language pathologists have the experience and perspective to help you develop an approach that’s right for individual students, small groups of students, or students and teachers school-wide.

Trauma-Informed Teaching

Students need safe, supportive, equitable, and engaging environments where they can learn how to manage their emotions and behavior, negotiate conflict, communicate effectively, care about others, and make responsible decisions. When these skills are taught and modeled by trauma-informed teachers, all students experience better behavioral, social, and academic outcomes. For students who are experiencing the impacts of trauma, these strategies are truly life-changing. We provide trauma-informed training for educators through courses and workshops and job-embedded coaching.

Social Thinking® Groups

In our Social Thinking groups, which can be set up in your school or at the Stern Center, we bring students together to build the essential social communication strategies they need to succeed with all other kinds of learning. Students gain a better grasp of the social world around them and learn how to adapt to meet their own social goals. We form groups by age and similar social learning profile and provide leaders who are trained to coach students with neurodiverse needs, including autism spectrum disorders, nonverbal learning disability, ADHD, and mental health challenges.
