This course will equip you with evidence-based strategies to help students increase their reading comprehension strategies, independence, fluency, and more. Through a blend of on-demand webinars, interactive practice, and curated resources, you will gain practical tools that are adaptable for your students. Note: this class does not meet live, but consists of on-demand webinars and individual coaching sessions that you arrange directly with your instructor.

Topics Covered

• Syntax, Sentence Comprehension, & Grammar: How sentence structure drives meaning.
• Vocabulary: Strategies to build word knowledge and word consciousness.
• Morphology & Etymology: Unlocking reading and writing skills through word parts and origins.
• Fluency: The roles of prosody, accuracy, and automaticity in skilled reading.
• Reading Comprehension: What research says about helping students think deeply about text.

Interactive Coaching & Feedback

To bridge theory and practice, this course includes personalized instructional support, including:

• 1:1 Virtual Coaching: Schedule 3-5 dedicated, personalized sessions with a coach to discuss takeaways from your learning and how to fine-tune strategies for your specific learners, make instructional decisions based on data, and more. These sessions are scheduled directly with your coach.
• Video-Based Reflection: A GoReact license to upload, watch, and reflect on 3 short recordings of your instruction using guided prompts.
• Personalized Feedback: Tailored feedback, curated resources, and thought partnership from your coach.
