Catherine Hagberg, M.Ed., Fellow/OGA
Orton-Gillingham Coach
Catherine has been an educator for over 20 years serving different roles such as an elementary public school teacher, a certified reading specialist, and an Orton-Gillingham practitioner in private practice. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education, and then continued at Providence College in Rhode Island where she completed a Master of Education in Literacy degree. Following her graduation from Providence College, Catherine taught a graduate course with a fellow colleague in their M.Ed. program for literacy. It was this experience and research for the course that led her to the Orton-Gillingham approach. After she received her Associate Level certification for OGA, she moved to Charleston, SC in 2012. She went on to teach at Trident Academy for four years as an Orton-Gillingham practitioner and completed her Certified Level certification. In addition to her continued 1:1 work with dyslexic students, Catherine is an Orton-Gillingham Fellow and co-owns Low Country Orton-Gillingham Training which offers OG training, observations, practicum supervision, and mentorship to support teachers in the area to become certified.
