Colleen Schuster, M.Ed.
Instructor
Colleen Schuster, M. Ed., Instructor, provides customized instruction in reading, written expression and executive function skills to students of all ages, including adults. Her students benefit from her 34+ years of experience delivering instruction tailored to meet each student’s unique needs. Since joining the Stern Center, Colleen has worked with 0ver 400 students and has collaborated with teachers throughout Vermont.
Prior to joining the Stern Center, Colleen was part of a team of educators led by David Drake and Dr. Charles Drake, founder of Landmark School, in establishing White Oak School in Westfield, Massachusetts. White Oak, where Colleen taught for 15 years, is the only state-approved, publicly funded school in Massachusetts that provides a full-day instructional program for students with moderate to severe language-based learning disabilities.
Colleen received her Bachelor of Arts in psychology/elementary education/biology from Mt. Holyoke College. She holds a Master of Education degree from Westfield State College, with a concentration in Moderate Special Needs. She has pursued her own professional learning by taking numerous courses related to structured language instruction, writing, executive function skills and technology. When she is not teaching, Colleen enjoys hiking with her dogs, snowboarding and music.
