Elizabeth Keenan, M.Ed.
Structured Literacy Coach
Elizabeth Keenan (she/her), M.Ed., Associate/OGA, is a Structured Literacy Coach for Lead to Read and provides consulting services to schools around Vermont. She holds a Special Educator (K-age 21) teaching license in Vermont, and is certified at the Associate level from the Orton-Gillingham Academy. Prior to joining the Stern Center in 2020, Elizabeth established Keenan Educational Consulting with the mission of supporting administrators and teachers in independent schools in gaining a deeper understanding of, and greater capacity to effectively serve, students with learning differences. Along with her work with school staff, she has provided literacy intervention, using the Orton-Gillingham approach, to numerous students in elementary, middle, and high school. Prior to moving to Vermont in 2017, Elizabeth worked as the Director of the learning center and as a study skills and English teacher at a college preparatory school; as an English and US History teacher at a residential treatment center for adolescent girls; and, as a lead classroom teacher at a therapeutic day school for children struggling with serious social-emotional and behavioral challenges. She earned a Master’s degree in Special Education from Boston University and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Fairfield University.
