Kate Mootz, M.A. CCC-SLP
Speech Language Therapist, Evaluator & Instructor
Kate Mootz, M.A., CCC-SLP, is an evaluator and structured literacy instructor. As an evaluator, Kate provides assessments in the areas of speech, language, social cognition & communication, and academic achievement in literacy. Her areas of expertise include working with articulation and phonological disorders, language impairments, social cognition challenges, fluency (stuttering), and using a structured literacy approach to improve a student’s reading and writing skillset.
She earned a Master’s degree in Speech Language Pathology at the University of Colorado in Boulder, and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Writing, Literature, and Publishing from Emerson College in Boston. Prior to joining the Stern Center, Kate worked extensively in school-based settings in Colorado and Vermont, as well as for a private practice in Maine. She holds a Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech and Hearing Association and a Speech-Language Pathologist License from Vermont’s Office of Professional Regulation.
Outside of the Stern Center, Kate enjoys spending time with her husband and daughter, exploring the swimming holes of Vermont and pursuing long distance hiking and backpacking adventures.
