Kate Mootz, M.A. CCC-SLP
Speech Language Therapist, Evaluator & Instructor
Kate Mootz, M.A., CCC-SLP, is an evaluator and structured literacy instructor. As an evaluator, Kate provides assessments in the areas of speech, language, social communication, and academic achievement in literacy. Her areas of expertise include working with articulation and phonological disorders, language disorder, social cognition challenges, fluency (stuttering), and language-based learning disabilities. Currently, Kate is working under mentorship to complete her 100-hour practicum toward becoming an Associate Level Orton-Gillingham instructor.
Kate earned a Master’s degree in Speech Language Pathology at the University of Colorado in Boulder, and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Writing, Literature, and Publishing from Emerson College in Boston. Prior to joining the Stern Center, Kate worked extensively in school-based settings in Colorado and Vermont, as well as for a private practice in Maine. She holds a Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech and Hearing Association and a Speech-Language Pathologist License from Vermont’s Office of Professional Regulation.
Outside of the Stern Center, Kate enjoys spending time with her daughter, reading a good book with a cup of hot chai, and pursuing long distance hiking and backpacking adventures.
