Susan Nyman, M.Ed., Fellow/OGA
Orton-Gillingham Coach
Education has been Susan’s passion for over 30 years working in public and private schools as a special educator K-12 as well as an Orton-Gillingham practitioner in private practice. She received her Bachelor’s Degrees in Business Administration and French from The College of Charleston and soon realized her desire was to work with children, so she pursued her Masters of Art in Teaching in Special Education from Charleston University. After working with students K-12 as a resource teacher who were struggling to read and while having children, she realized something was missing in her training. In 2009, Susan was trained at the Associate Level and hired at Trident Academy in Mt. Pleasant, SC. She was credentialed at the Certified Level while tutoring 1:1 at Trident Academy. Susan is an Orton-Gillingham Fellow and continues her private practice working with middle school dyslexic students, mentors teachers for the Stern Center Orton-Gillingham Institute, and co-owns Lowcountry Orton-Gillingham Training which offers OG training, observations, practicum supervision, and mentorship to support teachers in becoming OG credentialed.
