Kristy Wysong, M.S.Ed.

Kristy received a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science from Auburn University in Elementary Education. She has been teaching for 33 years and taught grades 1–4, focusing the last 12 years on teaching reading to struggling students and students with dyslexia. She is an in-district and on-call trainer for the Wilson Language Training company. She has been trained in Orton-Gillingham from the Michigan Dyslexia Institute and the Institute for Multi-Sensory Education.

The Power of the Orton-Gillingham Approach

The Orton-Gillingham Approach is a direct and explicit, language-based, and multisensory approach to teaching reading, writing, and spelling. Initially developed in the 1930s by Dr. Samuel T. Orton, a neuropsychiatrist and pathologist, and Anna Gillingham, an educator and psychologist, the Orton-Gillingham (OG) Approach is the underlying foundation of all multisensory structured language instruction, inspiring many creative OG-based programs such as Wilson Language Training®.
