Sign up for this free opportunity: IDA-NNEA presents READ for Parents with special guest Peggy Price, M.Ed., Fellow/OGA, on “Debunking Neuromyths”
On February 14th, 2024, at 7pm EST, Peggy Price will be discussing common myths and misinformation about how we learn to read and the ways in which our brains work to enable reading. There are a range of interventions marketed that claim to help individuals with dyslexia. However, claims made by many interventions contradict scientific consensus about how the brain learns to read. Families and educators will leave this session empowered to be a critical consumer of claims made about the brain and dyslexia.
Participants will learn:
1) what is a neuromyth
2) why common neuromyths may seem plausible
3) how to dispel these common neuromyths, such as colored overlays and dyslexia font.
