Peggy Price, M.Ed., Fellow/OGA, on “Debunking Neuromyths” for READ with Parents Series presented by IDA-NNEA

January 4, 2024

Peggy Price at board

In this free, recorded webinar, Peggy Price discusses common myths and misinformation about how we learn to read and how our brains work to enable reading. There are a range of marketed interventions that claim to help individuals with dyslexia. However, claims made by many interventions contradict scientific consensus about how the brain learns to read. Families and educators will leave this session empowered to be critical consumers of claims made about the brain and dyslexia.

Participants will learn:

1) what is a neuromyth

2) why common neuromyths may seem plausible

3) how to dispel these common neuromyths, such as colored overlays and dyslexia font.

Visit IDA-NNEA’s YouTube page for a recorded version of the webinar.
