Summer Learning
Keep Learning This Summer!
When students keep learning over the summer, it gives them the opportunity to catch up if they’re falling behind, improve their reading, writing, and math skills for future success, and start the school year feeling more confident and prepared.
In one-on-one sessions either in person or online, our extraordinarily dedicated, highly trained teachers work with students to help them build the academic and organizational skills they need to thrive in school and beyond.
Summer Session begins June 24 until August 5, 2024
Help With Reading, Writing, and More
Our reading and writing instructors use proven strategies to teach and expand foundational literacy skills, tailoring lessons to each learner’s needs and building a place of trust where students can work on difficult things without fear of making mistakes. Stern Center teachers bring learning to life with engaging, interactive, multisensory techniques, and help students grow the underlying skills that lead to fluent reading, strong writing, deep comprehension, and greater self-confidence.
Math Instruction
Our instructors work closely with students of all ages to improve their math skills, helping them understand math concepts more easily, lower their stress about math, and become more math-minded. As specialists in teaching math, we use research-backed approaches that are rich in sensory experiences: students can see, hear, and feel math come alive, making it easier to understand what numbers and symbols represent.
Learning How to Plan and Organize
In addition to developing reading, writing, and math skills, we teach students how to get organized, focus their attention, remember instructions, advocate for themselves, and prioritize tasks. By building these critical executive function capabilities, they learn how to take on responsibilities that require goal-setting, self-awareness, and follow-through. The result? Success in the classroom and beyond, plus confidence about learning new things and getting work done.
Addressing Learning Gaps
National scores in reading and math have stagnated or declined for more than half of students, but it’s never too late to catch up on fundamentals. The sooner those are addressed, the better the chance for a full recovery of the joy of learning and academic success.
